<p>Spring and a bit of summer is definitely in the air and as much as  we've been loving the sunny weather, we're even more eggscited about our  eggscellent <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/pages/Raw-Chocolate-Recipes.html" target="_blank">Easter egg recipes</a> and <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/categories/Buy-CHOC/Raw-Chocolate-Moulds-%26-Accessories/" target="_blank">Easter egg moulds</a> that have just arrived (have I over egged it? Sorry!).<br /> <br /> We've been really busy this month trying out new CHOCtastic recipes in  time for the holidays and have so much to share; from white raw  chocolate bites to divine vegan creme eggs, luscious raw chocolate and  peanut butter eggs, our CHOCalicious gluten free cake (perfect for  Passover) as well a lovely contribution from one of our customers on how  best to use up the last bits of raw chocolate mix left in the bowl.<br /> <br /> We are looking forward to a sunny and chocolatey April so without further ado, let the chocolate making commence!<br /> <br /> Amor y chocolates,</p>

<p>I absolutely love ITV's This Morning and have been really keen to get  our CHOC Chick Kits onto the show. For the past two years I've been  regularly emailing the programme with information about our products and  recipe suggestions and never heard anything back, so imagine my delight  when I answered the phone in early March to "hello, I'm Claire from  ITV's This Morning and we'd like to use your raw chocolate making kits  for one of our features on the show." To say I was dancing excitedly  around the room is an understatement and I was even more delighted when I  found out that our ingredients would be used by <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.amandahamilton.co.uk/?gclid=CLOz0MHpyK4CFUEMfAodgCtrCA" target="_blank">Amanda Hamilton</a> to show how easy it is to make healthy chocolates on<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.itv.com/thismorning/health/fatimas-fat-fight-bootcamp-part-2/" target="_blank"> Fatima's Fat Fight</a>.  The feature was scheduled to be shown on March 22nd however due to lack  of time most of the section with the raw chocolate making was cut out  and in the end there is only a brief glipse of our ingredients on the  clip shown. It was definitely a bit dissapointing, but at least we were  able to help in a small way and we even got a little thank you on the <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.itv.com/thismorning/health/fatimas-fat-fight-bootcamp-part-2/" target="_blank">ITV website</a>. I've still not given up on This Morning and hopefully we will manage to demonstrate healthy raw chocolate making one day soon!<br /> <br /> Speaking of contributing in a small way, last year we offered one of our  Kits as a raffle prize to Nicola Richardson who set up the charity  Alexander's Charity Ball, in honour of her son. It's a wonderful event  and I was truly delighted to hear that they have so far raised an  incredible &pound;12,500 for The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths. Our recipes this month are for  divine and healthy raw chocolate Easter Eggs and we've made our own  dairy free cream for our Vegan Raw Chocolate Cr&egrave;me Eggs and also used  Whole Earth's Organic Smooth Peanut butter to make utterly scrumptious  Peanut Butter Eggs.</p>

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of white chocolate  but I was definitely up for the challenge. After several attempts, I  think I managed to find a recipe that works and tastes great. It's  really easy to make and the recipe now up on our <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/chocchat/" target="_blank">CHOC Chat Blog</a> and we've added it here below as well.</p>

<p><strong>Ingredients</strong></p>

<li> 50g Ground cashew nuts (easily blitzed in a food processor)</li>

<li> 1tsp <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Vanilla-Bean-Extract.html">Vanilla bean extract</a></li>
<li> 2-3tbsp <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Sweet-Freedom-Mild.html">Sweet Freedom</a> or <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Agave-Nectar.html">Agave nectar</a></li>
<li> Mini baking cups/petit four cases or silicone ice cube tray/mould</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions</strong></p>
<p>Melt the cacao butter in a baine Marie (bowl over a pan of hot water)  on a low heat. Add the Sweet Freedom and mix well with a metal balloon  whisk. Mix in the Lucuma, vanilla and cashew nuts and taste. Add more  Sweet Freedom for a sweeter taste and mix well.</p>
<p>Remove from heat and spoon a teaspoon of the mix onto mini baking cups  or pour into a plastic tub for a chocolate bar (feel free to decorate  with freeze dried strawberries or other dried fruit such as cranberries,  cherries etc.).</p>
<p>Please in freezer to set for 30 minutes and enjoy cold straight from the freezer.</p>

<li> remains of raw chocolate mix</li>
<li> a handful of raisins separated out so they aren't in big clusters (I used 'Sunkist' because they have no oil coating).</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Method: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Sprinkle the raisins into the bottom of the bowl, and swish them around, coating them with a thin layer of chocolate.</li>
<li> Tip them out onto a sheet of aluminium foil (in small clumps), and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.</li>
</ul>

For the past two years I've been  regularly emailing the programme with information about our products and  recipe suggestions and never heard anything back, so imagine my delight  when I answered the phone in early March to "hello, I'm Claire from  ITV's This Morning and we'd like to use your raw chocolate making kits  for one of our features on the show." To say I was dancing excitedly  around the room is an understatement and I was even more delighted when I  found out that our ingredients would be used by <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.amandahamilton.co.uk/?gclid=CLOz0MHpyK4CFUEMfAodgCtrCA" target="_blank">Amanda Hamilton</a> to show how easy it is to make healthy chocolates on<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.itv.com/thismorning/health/fatimas-fat-fight-bootcamp-part-2/" target="_blank"> Fatima's Fat Fight</a>.  The feature was scheduled to be shown on March 22nd however due to lack  of time most of the section with the raw chocolate making was cut out  and in the end there is only a brief glipse of our ingredients on the  clip shown. It was definitely a bit dissapointing, but at least we were  able to help in a small way and we even got a little thank you on the <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.itv.com/thismorning/health/fatimas-fat-fight-bootcamp-part-2/" target="_blank">ITV website</a>. I've still not given up on This Morning and hopefully we will manage to demonstrate healthy raw chocolate making one day soon!<br /> <br /> Speaking of contributing in a small way, last year we offered one of our  Kits as a raffle prize to Nicola Richardson who set up the charity  Alexander's Charity Ball, in honour of her son. It's a wonderful event  and I was truly delighted to hear that they have so far raised an  incredible &pound;12,500 for The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths. <p><strong>Ingredients</strong></p>

<li> 50g Ground cashew nuts (easily blitzed in a food processor)</li>

<li> 1tsp <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Vanilla-Bean-Extract.html">Vanilla bean extract</a></li>
<li> 2-3tbsp <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Sweet-Freedom-Mild.html">Sweet Freedom</a> or <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/products/Agave-Nectar.html">Agave nectar</a></li>
<li> Mini baking cups/petit four cases or silicone ice cube tray/mould</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions</strong></p>
<p>Melt the cacao butter in a baine Marie (bowl over a pan of hot water)  on a low heat. Add the Sweet Freedom and mix well with a metal balloon  whisk. Mix in the Lucuma, vanilla and cashew nuts and taste. Add more  Sweet Freedom for a sweeter taste and mix well.</p>
<p>Remove from heat and spoon a teaspoon of the mix onto mini baking cups  or pour into a plastic tub for a chocolate bar (feel free to decorate  with freeze dried strawberries or other dried fruit such as cranberries,  cherries etc.).</p>
<p>Please in freezer to set for 30 minutes and enjoy cold straight from the freezer.</p>

<li> remains of raw chocolate mix</li>
<li> a handful of raisins separated out so they aren't in big clusters (I used 'Sunkist' because they have no oil coating).</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Method: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Sprinkle the raisins into the bottom of the bowl, and swish them around, coating them with a thin layer of chocolate.</li>
<li> Tip them out onto a sheet of aluminium foil (in small clumps), and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.</li>
</ul>

<p>Although February is now behind us we are still feeling the love especially as this month it&rsquo;s all about women! With <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.internationalwomensday.com/default.asp%20" target="_blank">International Women&rsquo;s Day </a>on March 8<sup>th</sup> and Mother's Day on the 18th there are plenty of opportunities this month to celebrate women.<br /> <br /> And what better way to show our love and appreciation to the women we love than by making and sharing chocolate?<br /> <br /> So in honour of all mums and lovely ladies, this month&rsquo;s CHOCaholic  newsletter includes extra recipes to spoil and pamper the women in our  lives (ourselves included!) as well as a 10% discount code (CHOCMum) as  an extra treat. Their book "<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://the100womenbookproject.com/index.php/the-100-women-and-who-are-we-helping" target="_blank">a day in the life of 100 women in Britain</a>" is now for sale with all proceeds going to support this amazing charity (I hope you will have a look and support them too).<br /> <br /> Here's to women, love and chocolate!</p>

<p>It was truly an honour to have been included in the book "<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://the100womenbookproject.com/" target="_blank">a day in the life of 100 women in Britain</a>",  a project developed by Dr Rosa Matheson after visiting Nepal and  looking for a way to empower and help the women she encountered (<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://the100womenbookproject.com/index.php/the-book-project-story" target="_blank">her story is fascinating and worth a read</a>).  Rosa approached me nearly two years ago and I hadn't realised the piece  she asked me to write was included in this wonderful book until a copy  arrived in the post for me last week. I found the experience of sitting  down to write about a day in my life such a special treat and quite  empowering in itself so it's amazing how a simple book that collects the  voices and experiences of women in the UK can help other women around  the world. I started making them because I wanted an intense &lsquo;Chocolate hit&rsquo; and that&rsquo;s exactly what you get!</em><br /> <em>You can make the Dark Chocolate in advance and add into the recipe  when needed. It is best straight from the freezer to avoid it melting  whilst you mix it into the mixture.</em><br /> &nbsp;<br /> Equipment<br /> ○&nbsp; Food Processor<br /> ○&nbsp; 20 x 20cm Silicone Cake Mould<br /> ○&nbsp; 2 Silicone Chocolate Moulds<br /> ○&nbsp; Glass Bowl<br /> ○&nbsp; Metal Balloon Whisk<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Ingredients - Dark Chocolate<br /> ○&nbsp; 100g Cacao Butter<br /> ○&nbsp; 36g Cacao Powder<br /> ○&nbsp; 4 tbsp Agave Nectar<br /> ○&nbsp; Pinch Pink Crystal Salt<br /> ○&nbsp; 4 - 6 Drops Vanilla Oil<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Ingredients - (Totally Awesome) Brownie<br /> ○&nbsp; 150g Almonds<br /> ○&nbsp; 80g Cacao Powder<br /> ○&nbsp; 60g Cacao Powder<br /> ○&nbsp; 75g Hazelnuts<br /> ○&nbsp; 400g Medjool Dates, chopped<br /> ○&nbsp; 25g Agave Syrup<br /> ○&nbsp; 50ml Water<br /> ○&nbsp; 3 &frac12; tbsp Xylitol Crystals<br /> ○&nbsp; Pinch of Pink Crystal Salt<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Method - Dark Chocolate<br /> ○&nbsp; Melt the Cacao Butter in a bain-marie or dehydrator and pour into a glass bowl<br /> ○&nbsp; Add the Cacao Powder and whisk until thoroughly mixed in<br /> ○&nbsp; Add the Pink Crystal Salt, Vanilla Oil and Agave Nectar, and whisk again until thoroughly mixed<br /> ○&nbsp; Pour into Silicone Chocolate Moulds, cover with clingfilm and place in the freezer for around 30 minutes to set<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Method - (Totally Awesome) Brownie<br /> ○&nbsp; Mill the Almonds, Hazelnuts, Xylitol Crystals and Pink Crystal Salt to a fine flour in your food processor<br /> ○&nbsp; Add the Cacao Powder and Medjool Dates to the milled Nuts and process  again until you have a well broken down and almost fluffy mixture. <p>Although February is now behind us we are still feeling the love especially as this month it&rsquo;s all about women! With <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.internationalwomensday.com/default.asp%20" target="_blank">International Women&rsquo;s Day </a>on March 8<sup>th</sup> and Mother's Day on the 18th there are plenty of opportunities this month to celebrate women.<br /> <br /> And what better way to show our love and appreciation to the women we love than by making and sharing chocolate?<br /> <br /> So in honour of all mums and lovely ladies, this month&rsquo;s CHOCaholic  newsletter includes extra recipes to spoil and pamper the women in our  lives (ourselves included!) as well as a 10% discount code (CHOCMum) as  an extra treat. <p>It was truly an honour to have been included in the book "<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://the100womenbookproject.com/" target="_blank">a day in the life of 100 women in Britain</a>",  a project developed by Dr Rosa Matheson after visiting Nepal and  looking for a way to empower and help the women she encountered (<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://the100womenbookproject.com/index.php/the-book-project-story" target="_blank">her story is fascinating and worth a read</a>).  Rosa approached me nearly two years ago and I hadn't realised the piece  she asked me to write was included in this wonderful book until a copy  arrived in the post for me last week. I found the experience of sitting  down to write about a day in my life such a special treat and quite  empowering in itself so it's amazing how a simple book that collects the  voices and experiences of women in the UK can help other women around  the world. I started making them because I wanted an intense &lsquo;Chocolate hit&rsquo; and that&rsquo;s exactly what you get!</em><br /> <em>You can make the Dark Chocolate in advance and add into the recipe  when needed. <p>Happy Holidays! This month's newletter will be short and sweet and what  we mainly want to do is to thank all of our amazingly wonderful  customers for supporting CHOC Chick and enjoying raw chocolate making as  much as we do.<br /> <br /> This year has been a fabulous year of growth, development and new  connections with incredible people and places. We've loved working with  John Lewis Food Halls and Whole Foods Market and have many new retailers  across the UK and Europe now stocking our CHOC Kits and cacao  ingredients (Triyoga, York Cocoa House, The Larder,&nbsp; Stirling Health  Food Store - see our updated <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/pages/Stockist-near-you.html" target="_blank">stockist list</a>).</p>
<p>My visit to Ecuador to meet our cocoa farmers was a very special and  uplifting experience that I will always treasure (read all about it in  our <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/chocchat/" target="_blank">CHOC Chat blog</a>)  and I have just returned from Copenhagen where we launched our CHOC  Chick Kits at Magasin du Nord during their Christmas showcase weekend  (even Santa stopped by our raw chocolate making demo).</p>
<p>In September we  launched our newly designed ingredient packaging at the Speciality &amp;  Fine Food Fair and our first direct shipment of 1 tonne of organic raw  cacao from Ecuador arrived in October. Last month we moved to new  premises at Broyle Place Farm in East Sussex and we now have a lovely  unit in the countryside and plenty of space to pack up our cacao butter  and cacao powder in our new and very shiny reseal-able pouches.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> As you can see we've been a bit busy this year, but we couldn't have done it without your love and support.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> <strong>So thank you!</strong> We hope you all have an utterly  CHOCtastic holiday season filled with happiness, success, love and  plenty of raw chocolate goodness.<br /> <br /> Amor y chocolates!<br /> CHOC Chick X<br /> <br /> p.s. <p><br /> My recent trip to Copenhagen was simply wonderful. What a beautiful  city and I am incredibly proud to have launched our Kits in Magasin du  Nord, such a beautiful depatment store with an incredible chocolate  section. It was packed with Christmas shoppers and even Santa stopped by  to help me make raw chocolates. Copenhagen was simply stunning this  time of year, I loved the beautifully designed shop windows, the  incredible food and especially the Danish people's love of good quality  chocolate :-).</p>

<p>Happy Holidays! This month's newletter will be short and sweet and what  we mainly want to do is to thank all of our amazingly wonderful  customers for supporting CHOC Chick and enjoying raw chocolate making as  much as we do.<br /> <br /> This year has been a fabulous year of growth, development and new  connections with incredible people and places. We've loved working with  John Lewis Food Halls and Whole Foods Market and have many new retailers  across the UK and Europe now stocking our CHOC Kits and cacao  ingredients (Triyoga, York Cocoa House, The Larder,&nbsp; Stirling Health  Food Store - see our updated <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/pages/Stockist-near-you.html" target="_blank">stockist list</a>).</p>
<p>My visit to Ecuador to meet our cocoa farmers was a very special and  uplifting experience that I will always treasure (read all about it in  our <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://chocchick.com/chocchat/" target="_blank">CHOC Chat blog</a>)  and I have just returned from Copenhagen where we launched our CHOC  Chick Kits at Magasin du Nord during their Christmas showcase weekend  (even Santa stopped by our raw chocolate making demo).</p>
<p>In September we  launched our newly designed ingredient packaging at the Speciality &amp;  Fine Food Fair and our first direct shipment of 1 tonne of organic raw  cacao from Ecuador arrived in October. Last month we moved to new  premises at Broyle Place Farm in East Sussex and we now have a lovely  unit in the countryside and plenty of space to pack up our cacao butter  and cacao powder in our new and very shiny reseal-able pouches.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> As you can see we've been a bit busy this year, but we couldn't have done it without your love and support.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> <strong>So thank you!</strong> We hope you all have an utterly  CHOCtastic holiday season filled with happiness, success, love and  plenty of raw chocolate goodness.<br /> <br /> Amor y chocolates!<br /> CHOC Chick X<br /> <br /> p.s. <p>It&rsquo;s amazing how quickly the summer has ended and we&rsquo;re straight into  autumn, it&rsquo;s back to school for the kids and back to reality for  me.&nbsp;After a pretty hectic summer I&rsquo;ve decided I need to focus this month  on my health and am embarking on a healthier eating plan (courtesy of  the very inspirational&nbsp;<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.amandahamilton.co.uk/"> Amanda Hamilton</a>)  and trying to exercise more regularly (so far have managed to do  Davina&rsquo;s brilliant 30 minute workout DVD every morning this week &ndash; long  may it last!). From next month it will be much easier to top up on our organic  cacao butter and organic cacao powder which will now come in easy to use  reseal-able pouches and will include our CHOCtastic recipes on the  back.<br /> <br /> This month we received our organic import licence and are expecting our  first shipment from Ecuador in the next two weeks. I&rsquo;m incredibly  grateful to be in a position to work directly with the wonderful cacao  farmers I met with on my visit to Ecuador. Ethically sourcing our  ingredient and knowing exactly where our ingredients come from has been  one of the most important aspects of my business and we will always  strive to work with our suppliers directly, fairly and honestly.<br /> <br /> I&rsquo;m also thrilled that Amanda Hamilton has chosen our CHOC Chick Kits  and recipes as a healthy alternative and demonstrated raw chocolate  making on her new BBC programme &ldquo;Slim Chance: Fix My Family,&rdquo; which will  be shown during September in Northern Ireland. I watched the first  episode on BBC iPlayer and thought they handled the emotional and  physical issues around weight gain brilliantly and look forward to  watching everyone&rsquo;s progress on her weight loss retreat. <p>This month in addition to our CHOCaliciously healthy chocolate spread  recipes (both the original and cheats versions) we&rsquo;ve included our  CHOCtastic raw chocolate and nut truffles recipe. This is an incredibly  easy recipe to make and is perfect as a lunch box treat. The beauty of  this recipe is that you can either roll the mix as truffles or spread  the mix out and cut into brownie sized squares for delicious healthy  snacks anytime of the day. We love making a batch of truffles/brownies  on Sunday morning and using whatever is left over in my daughters&rsquo; lunch  boxes during the week (much yummier and better for you than sugary  cereal bars!). <p>This Month our CHOC Mate is the inspirational Bethany Eaton from Nu You  Nutrition. <p><strong>Raw chocolate muesli</strong></p>
<p>&bull;&nbsp;2 tablespoons coconut oil<br /> &bull;&nbsp;300g rolled organic oats<br /> &bull;&nbsp;2 tablespoons tahini<br /> &bull;&nbsp;2 tablespoons sesame seeds<br /> &bull;&nbsp;2 tablespoons sunflower seeds<br /> &bull;&nbsp;2 table spoons poppy seeds<br /> &bull;&nbsp;2 tablespoons sultanas<br /> &bull;&nbsp;3 tablespoons of cacao powder<br /> &bull;&nbsp;3 tablespoons xylitol or Sweet Freedom (both natural low GI alternatives to sugar, suitable for diabetics)</p>
<p>Heat coconut oil in a large frying pan, once liquefied add oats, stir  and coat in coconut oil and lightly toast. Now add tahini and stir on a  low heat into the oats. Once this is mixed in turn off the heat and add  all the other ingredients, stir and mix in, taste and add more xylitol  and cacao if needed. Serve with dairy free yogurt and fresh berries.</p>]]></description>

<p>It&rsquo;s amazing how quickly the summer has ended and we&rsquo;re straight into  autumn, it&rsquo;s back to school for the kids and back to reality for  me.&nbsp;After a pretty hectic summer I&rsquo;ve decided I need to focus this month  on my health and am embarking on a healthier eating plan (courtesy of  the very inspirational&nbsp;<a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.amandahamilton.co.uk/"> Amanda Hamilton</a>)  and trying to exercise more regularly (so far have managed to do  Davina&rsquo;s brilliant 30 minute workout DVD every morning this week &ndash; long  may it last!). From next month it will be much easier to top up on our organic  cacao butter and organic cacao powder which will now come in easy to use  reseal-able pouches and will include our CHOCtastic recipes on the  back.<br /> <br /> This month we received our organic import licence and are expecting our  first shipment from Ecuador in the next two weeks. I&rsquo;m incredibly  grateful to be in a position to work directly with the wonderful cacao  farmers I met with on my visit to Ecuador. Ethically sourcing our  ingredient and knowing exactly where our ingredients come from has been  one of the most important aspects of my business and we will always  strive to work with our suppliers directly, fairly and honestly.<br /> <br /> I&rsquo;m also thrilled that Amanda Hamilton has chosen our CHOC Chick Kits  and recipes as a healthy alternative and demonstrated raw chocolate  making on her new BBC programme &ldquo;Slim Chance: Fix My Family,&rdquo; which will  be shown during September in Northern Ireland. I watched the first  episode on BBC iPlayer and thought they handled the emotional and  physical issues around weight gain brilliantly and look forward to  watching everyone&rsquo;s progress on her weight loss retreat. <p>This month in addition to our CHOCaliciously healthy chocolate spread  recipes (both the original and cheats versions) we&rsquo;ve included our  CHOCtastic raw chocolate and nut truffles recipe. This is an incredibly  easy recipe to make and is perfect as a lunch box treat. The beauty of  this recipe is that you can either roll the mix as truffles or spread  the mix out and cut into brownie sized squares for delicious healthy  snacks anytime of the day. We love making a batch of truffles/brownies  on Sunday morning and using whatever is left over in my daughters&rsquo; lunch  boxes during the week (much yummier and better for you than sugary  cereal bars!). <p>Wow! Wow! Wow! Is it July already?? So much has happened&nbsp;since I last  sent out my newsletter that I don't know where to start! Perhaps I  should begin with my AMAZING trip to Ecuador in June. I was incredibly  fortunate to visit the cacao plantations&nbsp;we source our ingredients from,  meet the farmers and suppliers and learn about biodynamic and organic  cacao farming, cacao been fermentation, drying&nbsp;and chocolate making.<br /> <br /> When I returned, slightly dazed and jetlagged I had to prepare for the  Jewish Chronicle's Dragon's Den competition which was held on Monday  June 27th where I pitched my business in front of 6&nbsp;judges and a large  audience&nbsp;and guess what? I won it!! I'm still slightly dazed and amazed  and really delighted to have received such fantastic recognition from  such distinguished business people.</p>
<p>So in this month's newsletter, you can read about my adventures in  Ecuador, sweet-talking the dragons, some extra special recipes sent to  us by the CHOCtastic Brenda and a special recipe from CHOC Mate Tanya  from Better Raw (who is also offering CHOC Chick newsletter readers a  15% discount off her new recipe ebook!!).<br /> <br /> Hope you enjoy this month's read.</p>

I was really impressed by <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://millinerybyrosieolivia.blogspot.com/">Rosie Olivia </a>who creates the most&nbsp;beautiful&nbsp;hats and had a fantastic display and pitch and the brilliant Gabriel Tyger John&nbsp;who created <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.tygerpaw.com/">Tyger Paw&nbsp;</a>a  unique long lasting&nbsp;brush to clean football boots and footwear,  and&nbsp;who's enthusiasm and polished presentation gave me a real run for my  money! <p>This month we have another CHOCtastic contribution from the very wonderful Brenda&nbsp;in Northern Ireland on our <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.chocchick.com/pages/Raw-Chocolate-Recipes.html">CHOC Creative recipe page </a>and  some extra special recipes that are available only in this newsletter  for the most divine healthy chocolate spread (much better than  Nutella!!).<br /> <br /> <strong>VERY VERSATILE CHEAT'S CHOCOLATE SPREAD</strong><br /> &nbsp;<br /> This is one chocolate treat that I whip up almost every day because  it's so simple and provides almost instant gratification!&nbsp; There is also  no end to the list of things that you can spread it on, drizzle it over  or lick it off!<br /> &nbsp;<br /> It came about one morning when I had run out of normal raw chocolate  spread and hadn't time to make more.&nbsp; As no CHOC Chick should have to  start her day without chocolate, I got creative and Cheat's Chocolate  Spread was the result.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> <img style="width: 331px; height: 228px;" src="https://d2q0qd5iz04n9u.cloudfront.net/_ssl/proxy.php/http/gallery.mailchimp.com/0d620f3fcc72d73afcc1ae0c2/images/Brenda_s_chocolate_spread.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="200" height="150" /><br /> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;Here's how to do it:<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">QUICK VERSION</span></strong><br /> &nbsp;<br /> 4&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; tbsp&nbsp;&nbsp; Sweet Freedom or Agave or Honey (preferably raw)<br /> 2-3 dsp&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Raw Cacao Powder<br /> 1.5 tsp&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vanilla Extract<br /> 1/4 tsp&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Orange Oil (optional and to taste)<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Place ingredients in a bowl and whisk vigorously to blend everything together.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">SUPER QUICK VERSION </span></strong>(enough for some toast)<br /> &nbsp;<br /> 1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; tbsp Sweet Freedom or Agave or Honey<br /> 1-1.5 tsp&nbsp;&nbsp; Raw Cacao Powder<br /> 1/2&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; tsp&nbsp;&nbsp; Vanilla Extract<br /> Few drops of Orange Oil or your favourite flavouring (optional)<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Place ingredients in a ramekin and stir well.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> I make the Super Quick Version each morning to spread on toast or jazz  up my porridge with chocolatey goodness.&nbsp; But it doesn't stop there!&nbsp;  It's delicious drizzled over ice-cream and fruit, blended into yoghurt  or smoothies, and a generous spoonful stirred through a mug of warm milk  or water makes a lovely drink.&nbsp; Or if I'm feeling particularly lazy I  save myself some washing up and, "enjoy it straight from the spoon!"<br /> &nbsp;<br /> This saucy spread is also a great base for lots of different flavours.&nbsp;  A splash of orange oil is my favourite but experiment with different  citrus oils or fresh zest.&nbsp; Try spicing it up with cinnamon, ginger,  nutmeg or chilli.....and perhaps if you fancy a more grown up version,  leave out the vanilla and add a glug of something alcoholic  instead......<br /> &nbsp;<br /> CHOC Cheers!<br /> Brenda x&nbsp;</p>

One of my favourite days of the year  and it&rsquo;s almost April, my favourite month of the year (might be because  it&rsquo;s Easter, Passover and my birthday that month?). <p><strong>Nourishing Raw Chocolate Face Mask Recipe</strong><br /> The wonders of raw chocolate never cease! Raw cacao is naturally high  in antioxidant flavanols, magnesium and sulphur (the beauty mineral)  which means that not only is eating raw chocolate good for us it&rsquo;s also  amazing for our skin.</p>
<p>So what better way to enjoy Mother&rsquo;s Day than with an indulgent raw  chocolate facemask that&rsquo;s CHOCfull of raw chocolate goodness and is good  enough to eat!</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>

<li> 1/3 cup CHOC Chick raw cacao powder</li>
<li> 1/4 cup of honey</li>
<li> 2 tbsp of sour cream or double cream</li>
<li> 3 tsp of oatmeal powder</li>

<p><strong>Nourishing Raw Chocolate Face Mask Recipe</strong><br /> The wonders of raw chocolate never cease! Raw cacao is naturally high  in antioxidant flavanols, magnesium and sulphur (the beauty mineral)  which means that not only is eating raw chocolate good for us it&rsquo;s also  amazing for our skin.</p>
<p>So what better way to enjoy Mother&rsquo;s Day than with an indulgent raw  chocolate facemask that&rsquo;s CHOCfull of raw chocolate goodness and is good  enough to eat!</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>

<li> 1/3 cup CHOC Chick raw cacao powder</li>
<li> 1/4 cup of honey</li>
<li> 2 tbsp of sour cream or double cream</li>
<li> 3 tsp of oatmeal powder</li>

<p>It&rsquo;s been a fabulous February so far! We were all loved up for  Valentine&rsquo;s Day with demos in John Lewis Oxford Street, Blue water and  Whole Foods Market in Camden and have spent the later part of the month  trying out wonderful new recipes and preparing for Mother&rsquo;s Day and  Easter.</p>
<p>Despite the economic gloom, we are absolutely delighted with the  continued growth of CHOC Chick. Our on line sales have grown by 30%  since this time last year and our retail sales continue to expand. John  Lewis Food Halls (one of our favourite stockists) will now be stocking  CHOC Chick Starter and CHOC Chick Master Kits all year round and our  Kits and ingredients can also be found at Planet Organic, The Haelan  Centre, Whole Foods Market in High Street Kensington, Camden and coming  soon to Whole Foods in Clapham and Stoke Newington (do please ask your  local health food and organic retailer to stock our Kits and raw cacao  ingredients if they don&rsquo;t and let us know if you can&rsquo;t find them at a  stockist near you).</p>
<p>We are extremely grateful to our wonderful customers, who not only  support us through sales but take the time to email regularly with  recipes, new chocolate making tips and photos of their CHOC creations. I met Caroline at several trade shows and events last year and  always had the joy of sampling her amazing vegetarian marshmallows and  fabulous gluten free cakes and creations. I&rsquo;m delighted that SugarGrain  has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Free From Awards for her Zesty  Lemon Polenta, Spiced Carrot Cake and Fresh Raspberry &amp; White  Chocolate Brownies. &nbsp;Her gluten free baking is outstandingly creative  and delicious and she really deserves to win! <p>Caroline Ahern founder of SugarGrain is my wonderful CHOCMate of the  month. I met Caroline at several trade shows and events last year and  always had the joy of sampling her amazing vegetarian marshmallows and  fabulous gluten free cakes and creations. I&rsquo;m delighted that SugarGrain  has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Free From Awards for her Zesty  Lemon Polenta, Spiced Carrot Cake and Fresh Raspberry &amp; White  Chocolate Brownies. &nbsp;Her gluten free baking is outstandingly creative  and delicious and she really deserves to win! <p>Ban those January blues! It&rsquo;s nearly Valentine&rsquo;s Day and the start of  the chocolate season is almost upon us (not that we need a particular  season to eat chocolate) so it&rsquo;s now definitely the time to rejoice in  all things chocolate.</p>
<p>After overindulging over Christmas (and enjoying every moment), January  has been about easing ourselves back into work (and into my jeans!) and  trying to rid ourselves of those winter blues and bugs. What better way  to get through the winter months than enjoying raw chocolate goodness?  I&rsquo;m back to drinking my <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.chocchick.com/pages.php?pageid=20">CHOCShots</a> 3 times a day (before every meal) and feeling happier and slightly fitter (thanks also to the amazing Power Plate classes at <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.revitalise-u.co.uk/">Revitalise</a> in Hove.</p>

<p>January has been an amazing month on the Twittersphere! I&rsquo;ve discovered  the joys of Twitter (you can find me @gochocchick by the way) and have  really enjoyed meeting other Tweeters and bloggers with the same  interest as I have in baking, cooking, chocolate and music.</p>

<p>This month&rsquo;s amazingly inspirational CHOC Mate is Polly Noble a  lifestyle coach, cancer coach, author and raw food coach. Having faced  cancer at the age of 24 and now once again, as of February 2010 aged 28,  Polly is passionate about making the most of life and helping others to  do the same.</p>

<p>We&rsquo;ve had an eventful start to December with lots of snow, mulled hot  chocolate to keep us warm and a few amazing networking events where I  met the wonderful Carol Savage from <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.mydish.co.uk/">www.mydish.co.uk</a> and the absolutely amazing Nigella Lawson (she loved the <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.chocchick.com/products/Raw-Chocolate-Starter-Kit.html">CHOC Chick Starter Kit</a>!!).  So far two celebrity chefs have enjoyed our CHOC Kits and I guess my  mission for 2011 may have to be to introduce raw chocolate making to all  the others (Gordon, Hugh, Delia&hellip;.anyone else?).</p>
<p>This month our CHOCtastic recipe page is CHOCfull of festive recipes,  from our luscious truffles recipes, naughty CHOCtails and heart-warming  Mulled Hot CHOC, so plenty of treats for us to enjoy.</p>
<p>We are also celebrating the launch of our lovely friend Chocoholly&rsquo;s shop in Brighton&rsquo;s Marina with a <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.facebook.com/#%21/event.php?eid=117408021659770">Chocolaty Christmas Party</a> on Sunday 12/12/10 from 2pm till 6pm and hope you can join us this weekend!</p>

I think it&rsquo;s incredibly  important, particularly in this economic climate, to support independent  local stores and I&rsquo;m extremely lucky to live by the sea and near <strong>Pebbles Homestyle and Giftstore. </strong>This  beautiful shop in Rottingdean, East Sussex is owned and run by the very  lovely Michelle Pierina Marcar, who has the most wonderful eye for  design and textures and has filled her shop with the most delightful  homewares, textiles, cards and gorgeous gifts. I will definitely be  doing much of my Christmas shopping there (she also stocks our CHOC  Chick Starter Kits of course!) and bump into you there!</p>

<p>I&rsquo;ve been incredibly lucky to meet the most amazing people since  starting my business two years ago, from celebrity chefs to inspiring  women in business and this past month I&rsquo;ve had the immense pleasure of  meeting a truly inspirational young woman.</p>
<p>Leanne Pero runs The Movement Factory <a style="color: #6b2a0a; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.themovementfactory.uk.com/">www.themovementfactory.uk.com</a> (originally called Bruk Out) which she founded when she was only 15!  Her company started by offering Street Dance classes to her local South  London community and schools and with the help and support of Debbie  Moore (yes THE Debbie Moore CBE from Pineapple Dance Studios) and Emma  Sinclair (another incredible entrepreneur &ndash; she&rsquo;s the youngest woman  ever to launch a business on the London Stock Market!) she has rebranded  and expanded her business and now offers classes throughout London  schools and community centres and even at Pineapple Dance Studios in  Covent Garden.</p>
<p>I hope her business continues to grow from strength to strength and  look forward to seeing her again at their Christmas showcase.</p>

<p>This show will include a collection of street dancers, breakers,  poppers, lockers as well as traditional South American and African  dancers too.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Performers include some familiar household names from popular  television series Britain&rsquo;s Got Talent -Twist&nbsp;and Pulse (2nd place  2010), Peridot (finalists) and Sky 1&rsquo;s Got to dance- Unity youth  (finalists) to name a few.</p>
