Chocolate Orange Mince Pies

A delicious chocolatey twist on the classic mince pie, these chocolate orange mince pies are a wonderful addition to any festive celebration (or tea break).

Makes: 10

225g plain flour
30g CHOC Chick cacao powder
50g icing sugar
120g vegan block/dairy free butter, diced
2 tsp orange extract

For the Filling
1 ½ x 410g jar mincemeat

To Serve
1 orange, grated
Sprinkle of icing sugar
Dairy-free cream (optional)

To make the pastry, add all of the pastry ingredients into a food processor and process until a ball has formed. Add in 1-2 tbsp water, if the dough isn’t sticking together.

Wrap the pastry in baking paper / cling film and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180c and lightly grease a 10 hole baking tray.

Roll out the pastry, to an approx. thickness of 0.5cm. Using a cutter, cut out 10 circles and using a small star cutter, cut out 10 stars with the remaining pastry.

Press each of the pastry circles into the tray. Fill each one with 1 ½ tbsp mincemeat and top a star.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until lightly crisp.

Leave to cool for 10 minutes, before dusting each one with a sprinkling of icing sugar and grated orange.
